2018 Season looms for TGF team

As we enter April all of our team begin to their own final preparations for the new season and we take a little look at what an exciting season we have ahead.

With players spanning three clubs and 9 teams we are going to hear about some real variety in our cricket.

TGF ambassador Steven Mullaney has already spent a good amount of time at the crease for the ECB North team as they toppled the ECB South side for a series victory for the First time since 1949 (if you believe wikipedia). His two 50s in three innings proved crucial to the North sides efforts.

Steven is the only man up and running so far with local sides getting up and running in two weeks providing the April Showers allow it.

We particularly focus on Cherry Burton and Beverley sides.Cherry Burton Captain Chris Wilson and star bowling trio David Butt, Paul Ellis and Sam Sharp all turn out in the side that won Holderness Division 4 last season and will be looking forward to testing themselves at the highest standard the villagers have ever been placed.

Sean Mclean is delighted in his new role as Cavalier Captain and leading his team  as he looks to keep improving as someone who came to the game late.

We also look forward to seeing two former Cherries continue their development at Beverley in Stew Scott and Joey Franklin. Both can consider last season a break through season at the club as they performed strongly in and worked their way up through the teams thanks to some outstanding performances.

Continuing development will be the order of the day for lifelong Beavers Matty Saint, Will Harrison, Kieran Simpson and Jamie Roe as they establish themselves further at the club. We look forward to following them all throughout the season and we can promise regular updates on their progress and wish all players well.

We continue to look for anyone who is either a retired player, or new cricketer to turn out for the Godber Foundation side in as many evening games through the summer as we can raise a team for. We have a number of potential opponents and would love to help players return or take their first visit to the crease in our name.
